There is no doubt that the last five years or so have been amongst the most challenging times ever faced by people running businesses . While many have traded through recessionary times before, rarely have we had a time of prolonged recession and “flat lining” in our economy. To add to that we have had a credit crunch and unprecedented banking crisis that has restricted the flow of lending to businesses at the very time they have needed it most.
While there are signs of improvement in bank lending volumes as supported by government initiatives, clearly there is a need to explore other possible methods of financing working capital, growth and expansion. We have set out a number of different options below which could be used as an alternative to, or as a combination with, more traditional bank finance.
At Armstrong Watson we recognise that every business will have very different circumstances and a finance structure for one business will not necessarily be appropriate for another. It is vitally important that when we advise our clients, we carefully listen to their plans, including current requirements and objectives , but also to link with longer term exit and succession planning. It is for that reason that we strongly recommend discussing your plans with our experienced team of partners and directors to ensure that we can help you put the right structure in place for funding your business.
