Accountancy firm Armstrong Watson is delighted to announce the appointment of Joanna Gray as Business Services Director, investing in, and strengthening, their services to clients in the region.
Joanna has over 15 years’ experience in advising owner managed businesses and not for profit organisations in the North East. She joins us from Newcastle based firm UNW LLP where she worked for over six years; prior to this she was with Ernst & Young LLP in Newcastle.
Although Joanna has worked with a board range of corporate clients, varying in size from small business start-ups to large well established companies, Joanna also has a particular specialism in advising the not-for-profit sector. Joanna holds the Diploma in Charity Accounting, which is issued by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, and is one of only a small percentage of Chartered Accountants to do so.
Complimenting her charity specialism, Joanna has also been involved in the education sector for over a decade. During her career Joanna has been involved with colleges and universities, as well as many independent schools and more recently, new academies.
There has been a rapid increase in the number of schools converting to academies in recent years and Joanna has played a key role in assisting many schools and governors.
‘Converting to academy status brings new responsibilities for governors and a new financial reporting regime for the school. It is important for any school considering academy status to get the right professional advice from experienced advisors.
I was attracted to join Armstrong Watson because they have the full service offering for clients which you would expect from a large firm, whilst at the same time having a friendly personalised approach to client relationships, delivered through their local offices.
Armstrong Watson is an ambitious firm and they are investing heavily in the future; from appointing quality people, to acquiring businesses and investing in IT to name just a few.
I’m looking forward to being part of the Armstrong Watson team and further developing my career with them.”
Paul Dickson, Managing Partner at Armstrong Watson commented:
‘I am very pleased to have Joanna joining Armstrong Watson bringing with her expertise in the not for profit sector. Having Joanna as part of the team working out of our Northallerton office strengthens our proposition to support, protect and advise our clients and I think our clients will enjoy working with Joanna.’
