Seven people were recently arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to defraud and money laundering, after police swooped on a suspected organised crime gang believed to be behind a pension investment scam that has been dubbed "the new boiler-room fraud". The gang, which was dismantled by the police earlier this month, was thought to be cold-calling and text messaging people across the UK.

I read with great interest recently that Tesco are planning to launch an online comparison service for pensions. The plan is to make it easier for those approaching retirement to shop around for the pension annuity paying the highest income.

Hearing this lady's comments I have been equally exercised by her attitude towards this document and I think we should put the accountants’ side of the story.

Armstrong Watson has been ranked number six in the UK in the ‘Top Employers for School & College Leavers Survey 2013/2014’.
Beating off strong competition from big businesses both in the accountancy sector such as Deloitte, PWC, and Grant Thornton, and the wider business economy such as Marks and Spencer, Santander and Jaguar Land Rover, Armstrong Watson was ranked 6th in the survey which reveals the top 20 employers for school and college leavers.

Some time ago I was invited to go on BBC Radio Cumbria’s Money Talks programme by its presenter Julie Clayton. I am unsure who recommended me to the BBC but I felt it was quite an honour.
However as the date drew nearer I became nervous, I had never done anything like this before. The moment arrived and Julie and the other guest really put me at ease. I contributed to various topical discussions including being put on the spot to name the only “lake” in The Lake District.
