Legal Sector Breakfast Briefing - Dumfries

Armstrong Watson and Clydesdale Bank would like to invite you to the latest in our regular series of Breakfast Briefings for the Legal Services Market in South-West Scotland.

Invites are restricted to key decision makers within key regional firms.  Our intention is to hold these events for a select group of no more than 20 regular attendees.  That way we can attract high quality nationally recognised speakers to present on law firm management issues.

Your client’s money is your responsibility: How to stay secure in the age of cyber fraud

The session will focus on the threat of cyber attack to your firm, looking at the external threat of hacking and the internal threat of social engineering and how they lead to a multi-layered scam aimed to gain access to your client’s money. We’ll be talking about how to mitigate the risk from both sides, and how compliance to a standard such as Cyber Essentials or ISO 27001 is the glue that holds your risk mitigation plan in place.

This will be coupled with a review of accounts issues around compliance, safe processes for cashiering, and how mere compliance with regulation may not in fact be best/safest practice.

Speaker Profiles:

Alex Holt is Director of Business Development England and Wales for The Cashroom.  Alex’s background is in the legal profession, having been a partner at Hill Dickinson.  He then spent time running his own recruitment business before latterly working with Steria, a huge outsourcing business that amongst other things, provides business process outsourcing services to law firms.

Stephen Robinson is Managing Director and founder of Xyone Cyber Security and his career in the digital industries spans over 15 years. Upon recognising the high risk from the threat of attacks to SMEs, Stephen launched the business in 2012, leading a team of highly qualified cyber security specialists, dedicated to the provision of cutting edge services. Stephen develops idea and strategies with Xyone’s board and senior management team whilst taking a hands-on role in the running of the business, representing the company at events, meetings and presentations around the country.
