‘I’m absolutely delighted that Karen has won this accolade. It’s testament to her dedication to the payroll profession and service to the industry. We are very proud and privileged to have Karen as our Payroll Director, as she is able to ensure that our provision for Payroll clients is always on top of the latest developments and legislation in the industry which in turn is a very valuable advantage for our clients.’

Karen Thomson comments:

‘I am extremely humbled to receive such an accolade, to be nominated for this award is an achievement in itself. I have spent over 20 years in the Payroll profession and continue to be involved in consultations, policy and legislation as much as possible, as this helps me to ensure that our payroll services are the very best they can be and that we are at the forefront of developments in the industry. I’m committed to making our payroll services the very highest quality possible and am proud to lead a team where all are CIPP qualified or working towards this qualification. This ensures that we deliver the highest standards possible to our clients.’

Malcolm Trotter, our Chief Executive of the IAB comments:

The following extract is taken from Karen’s nomination for the awards:

‘Karen has been described as a true payroll professional who works tirelessly to raise the profile of the profession.  Since joining her employer, Armstrong Watson in August 2015, she has made significant changes to the services offered which has benefitted both the clients and the organisation. She represents payroll on the admin burdens advisory board to support HMRC in reducing the administrative burdens on businesses.  She is also a lecturer and mentor and is a great ambassador for the payroll profession. ‘
