Jim qualified as a chartered accountant with an independent practice in Lanarkshire prior to spending six years in Cambridge, firstly working with a big four firm, and then gaining industry experience through positions at a manufacturing plc and an international design agency. He returned to Scotland in 2004 to join James Lockhart & Co, which grew quickly and was eventually merged with a top ten national firm in 2007. In late 2009 Jim formed Lockhart Business Advisory Limited which was merged with Haines Watts Glasgow in July 2015, before merging with Armstrong Watson in 2018.
Jim is also a Chartered Tax Advisor and is vastly experienced in tax and accounting issues for both corporate and personal clients alike, and is also involved in business strategy and fundraising.
