Armstrong Watson is delighted to announce the appointment of Matt Slessor, Financial Planning Consultant at its Rosehill office in Carlisle.
Matt comes to Armstrong Watson from Lloyds Banking Group. He joined Lloyds Bank in 1989, and since 2006 has been an area manager, with responsibility for training managers and advisers, including building a team from scratch. Latterly he worked in Scotland, providing specialist Wealth Management financial advice to clients with complex needs.
Matt says, “I have joined Armstrong Watson for many reasons - it is a highly respected local firm, with strong values aligned to my own - passion, honesty, trust and humanity. With the changes to the financial services industry expected to be rolled out in 2013, I believe that Armstrong Watson is ideally placed to help clients new and old.
“Professional development has been really important to me and as I am studying towards becoming a Chartered Financial Adviser, what has become clear is the importance of knowing your customers and how you can help them through professional advice and services. Having had a career built on providing excellent service, treating clients with respect and integrity is fundamental when it comes to securing their financial future. As a Diploma qualified adviser, a key advantage I have is being able to offer clients a large range of products and services from several providers and underpin advice with up to date technical knowledge.”
Matt adds, “Joining Armstrong Watson will give me a wider product range which can unlock a greater potential for my clients. I’m known as an architect – someone who constructs the right building blocks from a well thought through plan. I am a quick relationship builder, have a holistic approach with the long term view for my clients rather than a quick fix, and have built long term sustainable relationships rather than move around.”
Paul Dickson, Managing Partner at Armstrong Watson, says, “We are delighted to welcome Matt to Armstrong Watson. He brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience and is a great asset to the financial planning team at Armstrong Watson.”
Matt is 38 years old, is married with three daughters and lives in Carlisle. Originally from Penrith, Matt attended Ullswater School and joined Lloyds Bank on leaving school at 16. His spare time is spent studying towards his Chartered Financial Adviser qualification, but when he has time to himself he enjoys gardening, especially growing his own vegetables.
