Armstrong Watson entered two teams in the Oaklea Trust Challenge on Sunday 10 June. The challenge was won by Armstrong Watson’s South Lakes team, with its Carlisle team in 4th place. Six teams took part in the challenge.

Armstrong Watson’s winning South Lakes team, comprised Richard Rankin, David Squire, Richard Andrew and Phil Jackson.

Armstrong Watson’s Carlisle team comprised Andrew Kennon, Nathan Glaister, Kerryl Carter and Victoria Lawson.

The results were:
1st Armstrong Watson South Lakes
2nd Carlisle Audi
3rd HSBC Kendal
4th Armstrong Watson Carlisle
5th The Oaklea Trust
6th Temple Heelis Kendal

Richard Rankin, partner at Armstrong Watson’s Kendal office and member of the winning team said, “It was a fantastic day and thanks have to go to The Oaklea Trust for coming up with such an interesting and testing challenge. Everyone from Armstrong Watson enjoyed the day.

“We were very lucky with the weather on the lake, almost perfectly still water, although not so lucky on Striding Edge where we all tested our waterproofs.

“It has to be said the Armstrong Watson South Lakes Team did set out to win, but regardless of position it was a good way to spend a Sunday and raise money for a very worthy cause in the process.”

The Oaklea Trust Ullswater and Helvellyn Challenge pulled together six teams of four people from local businesses to take on the challenge of crossing Lake Ullswater in open canoes (7.5 miles) and then ascending Helvellyn via Striding Edge and back in a race to compete for the Oaklea Trust Team Challenge Cup. The Oaklea Trust helps disabled and disadvantaged children and adults to reach their potential and live fulfilling independent lives. More information can be found at
