Although we were all a bit wind swept at the 2015 Cumberland Show, we had a great time meeting clients, friends and business partners that braved the gales to come and say hello on our stand.
We had two competitions running; the main one being our farm gate milk pricing quiz. We had a lot of entries, and the competition was actually really tough, but there could only be one winner.
Yesterday Louise Utting and Head of Agriculture Andrew Robinson present the winner, Howard Mitchinson with his prize. The prize was originally half a tonne of cattle cake, but as Mr Mitchinson is mainly a poultry farmer, we decided to bend the rules and provide him with an alternative prize of £100 Carrs Billington voucher.
Our second competition required a little more creativity from entrants, as we asked visitors to take a selfie with Sterling, our Armstrong Watson squeezy cow, somewhere on the show field, with the best picture using #AWMoo15 to win a prize. Again, we were overwhelmed with some amazing entries, but Joey from Carlisle stole the show, and a few hearts! This picture, taken by him mum while he played at our kids table, won Joey a John Deere ride on tractor.
We presented the tractor to Joey earlier this week, and he was delighted! His mum tells us that he was even more thrilled than she thought he would be, and as you can see, he looks adorable on it!
We'll be running competitions at many of our our stands at the agricultural shows over the summer, so make sure you come by and say hello, get a cup of tea (or something stronger if desired!) and fill in your entry. We're looking forward to seeing you!
