A new unique service in the North of England and South of Scotland will help UK businesses both financially and strategically

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Clive Briggs who joined the firm this month as Corporate Finance Director, heading up a new and completely unique service line ‘Business Finance’.

Clive will be working throughout the firm to ensure that clients who have any business finance requirements are getting it from the place which is strategically the best fit for their business.

This will encompass all areas of finance including Property Funding, Bank lending, overdrafts, Invoice Finance, Asset Finance, Trade Finance, Bridging finance, unsecured and secured lending, Stock Finance, Construction and Contractual debt.

The aim is to establish Armstrong Watson Business Finance as a division where both new and existing clients can turn to, to get the very best advice and choice when considering which financial product and lenders best suit their needs.

One of the key benefits to bringing this in house is that the funding streams will be assessed on a holistic basis, bringing in other specialist areas of the business such as tax, financial planning and corporate finance, in order to assess sources of finance, not just in terms of price but on the basis of which source of funding is the best strategic fit. This means that the best solution for the business receiving the finance can be put forward, and clients will benefit from a ‘whole of market’ approach, with their individual business objectives and circumstances taken into consideration before solutions are put forward.

Clive will also be working closely with business partners across the North of England and the South of Scotland, such as banks and solicitors, strengthening existing relationships and developing new partnerships.

Paul Dickson, Managing Partner, comments:

‘I am delighted to welcome Clive into the business. We recognise the fantastic benefits to our clients, to be able to offer this specialist knowledge in house, integrating business finance with the other areas of our business. This will bring huge strategic value to the advice and support we can offer. We are a forward thinking firm and this is one of the ways we can enhance our services and gain a unique approach to the support we’re able to deliver.’

Richard Rankin, Head of Corporate Finance Comments:

‘Clive brings with him unrivalled industry knowledge of funders. His reputation in the market place is phenomenal with experience that is second to none. I can’t stress enough how excited we are to be able to bring this knowledge and experience to benefit not only our clients but to any business with a financing need. Being able to offer this in house and to integrate it with other areas of the business is completely unique outside of the major cities of London and Manchester. This is a huge step up for us as a firm.’

Clive Briggs comments

‘I am very pleased to have joined the team at Armstrong Watson and working with them to bring all elements of business finance under one roof. The ability within a firm of this size to wrap advice from other areas of the business such as restructuring, tax or financial planning, around business finance ultimately brings huge benefits to the client; they have one point of contact instead of several, the advice given takes into account the whole of the market alongside strategic implications of different funders for that business. Being able to do this means we can have a greater positive impact. Every business at some point needs finance whether it’s an overdraft, company car, investment in equipment or office space. Our job here is to ensure that they get the best possible source of funding, taking into account all the other elements which are significant strategically, to present the most appropriate solutions.

I’m already working with the team and am proud to have joined such a forward thinking firm with the potential to support and help businesses from across the UK.’
