As we celebrate our 150th anniversary, our modern approach to helping our clients maximise their potential shines through in an article written by Peter Molyneaux for the Darlington & Stockton Times.
An accountancy firm celebrating its 150th anniversary is taking a modern approach to helping clients maximise their potential based on its historic reputation.
Armstrong Watson, which has 16 offices across northern England and Scotland, including Northallerton, is using its vast experience to help add value and identify new, innovative opportunities.
One of the diverse businesses the firm has supported is Roots farm shop at East Rounton near Northallerton which opened nine years ago to improve the sustainability of the family farm.
All its beef pork and lamb is sourced from its own and neighbouring farms no more than four miles away to ensure its quality produce is truly local. It has capitalised on the trend for selling homemade oven-ready meals, runs regular butchery classes and was named ‘best butcher’ in the Flavour of Herriot Country 2016 awards.
Katherine Brown, part of the Hutchinson dynasty whose family has been based at Home Farm for generations, said Armstrong Watson had helped Roots thrive.
“Armstrong Watson is steeped in history but it’s very forward thinking. We’ve been advised about new legislation and other developments that have really helped us move the business forward and spot new growth opportunities”.
“Not only has its team of local accountants, business and financial advisors supported our business but they’ve taken the time to get to know us and provide a personal service which we really value as that’s exactly what we strive to give our customers too.”
Peter Molyneux heads up the agricultural side of Armstrong Watson’s Northallerton office which recently moved to new premises at Thornfield Business Park.
Coming from an agricultural background, his specialty is adding value to individuals family and owner businesses.
He said: “It has been great to work with Katherine and her family. We have enjoyed helping them with all aspects of their business, not just preparing their accounts. Roots farm shop is constantly evolving to better serve it’s customer base, and Katherine is always full of fresh ideas. We look forward to helping the business continue to grow”
