About Brian

Brian joined Armstrong Watson as a Tax Partner in April 2023 to lead and develop the Employment Tax services that the firm provides to employer clients.  Brian has specialised in the areas of employment taxes, staff reward and pay governance for more than 30 years and has held roles at HMRC, in private practice (including 15 years within Big 4 firms) and several years running his own consultancy business. 

Brian is a recognised expert in his field and has advised all types of employers from small, family businesses to large, global brands across the whole spectrum of pay-related issues including contingent workers, salary sacrifice, Benefits In Kind, National Minimum Wage and Construction Industry Scheme matters to name a few. He sits on the Tax Board of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS) and is the Convenor for ICAS’ Employment Tax Working Group. Brian is also a long-serving member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation’s Employment Taxes Forum.
