Rebecca Wilson, Cyber Security Solutions Manager, said: "I’m proud that Armstrong Watson Cyber Security Solutions is partnering with Dumfries & Galloway Chamber of Commerce. Together, we’ll help protect our business community from online crime through trusted, government-backed guidance and practical support. Cyber crime is a daily threat to startups, micro and family businesses, and SMEs across every sector. Our focus is prevention, acting early to reduce risk, backed by a comprehensive range of cyber security services for organisations of all sizes.’
Armstrong Watson’s 2025 Family, Privately-Owned and Owner-Managed Business survey found cyber security is a concern among 61% of Scottish businesses. On the other hand, 28% are not concerned because they don’t believe their business will be targeted, and 11% believe they are protected.
The partnership also aims to strengthen governance by encouraging businesses not to “mark their own homework” when it comes to cyber security. Independent cyber security audits —even for organisations with strong inhouse IT capabilities or managed service providers (MSPs) – ensure controls are working as intended, verify configurations and uncover any weaknesses.
Armstrong Watson is urging businesses to secure Cyber Essentials certification, the UK’s minimum baseline standard for cyber security. Certification not only improves resilience but also demonstrates assurance to customers and can support new business opportunities.
