Presenting at Xero roadshows and the introduction of files in Xero

I had the honour this week of guest speaking at the Leeds and Manchester Xero Roadshow events. The events were well attended with over 200 people in attendance.  It was an opportunity to share Armstrong Watson’s success as a Gold Xero partner with other parties interested in joining the Xero journey. For those that are not aware of Xero it is ground breaking cloud accounting software.

At the event I talked through how the feedback from our clients using Xero has been incredible and for some life changing and how they now actually understand their business finances. But the main area I talked about was the relationship I now have with my clients and the information that I have at my finger tips enables me to give the best possible advice based on real time information.

The roadshow highlighted some of the great new features added to Xero lately including the ability to raise purchase orders and file storage; in the very near future they will be launching quotes and stock lite.

Of the recent changes my clients have been letting me know that the file storage has been an excellent addition. Often we will ask clients for a copy of their bank loan agreement and it turns out it has been mislaid causing time delays in giving advice. Now with file storage you can add a copy of the agreement direct to your bank section within Xero so that both the client and I can view it. In the same vein if a new higher purchase agreement is taken out it can now be added against the hire purchase loan on the nominal ledger.

Xero have extended further the functionality of file storage by introducing a simple drag and drop facility, so if you were to receive a purchase invoice via email and you wanted to attach it the purchase transaction in Xero all you have to do now is drag it from your email straight into Xero, brilliant!
