About David
David was brought up on the family farm near Appleby. He joined Armstrong Watson in 1996 and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1999 and as a Chartered Tax Adviser in 2000. After qualifying he moved to the Kendal office to take up a managerial role before becoming a Partner in 2006.
David has always worked closely with agricultural and farming sector businesses as well as a wide range of owner managed businesses. In 2015 he returned to North Cumbria to head up our Rosehill office and has responsibility for ensuring that the services provided in respect of accountancy, business and tax advisory continue to meet the needs and go on to exceed the expectations of his clients. Over the years David has helped farmers to save significant amounts of tax and VAT, and he aims to provide clear advice in language his client’s understand.

We find using Xero easy and have been doing so for I think over four years now. We first moved to Xero when we decided to update our accounting process from ‘large paper book keeping books’ to something ‘electronic’. The team at AW put the ‘background’ information into the system, it was then easy to add the ‘direct bank link’ and going forward reconciliation has been very easy and preparation and submission of the VAT return is very straightforward. If we ever need any help the knowledgeable staff are always easy to contact and have always been able to answer any questions.
