End of Year Employer Compliance

Armstrong Watson’s Employment Tax team manages the compliance processes for hundreds of businesses each year, across all key industry sectors.

Our team’s extensive knowledge of tax legislation, and of HMRC’s stance and general approach to tax technical matters, provides a robust and cost-effective compliance service to employers of all shapes and sizes. Building on our technical expertise, we also have developed robust and effective processes, controls and risk management policies which are bedded into our compliance services to help clients file complete and accurate returns to HMRC within statutory filing deadlines.

The key advantages of outsourcing your employment tax compliance work to Armstrong Watson, are that it frees up internal resources and also provides assurance to HMRC that your business takes its tax compliance obligations seriously. This can prove invaluable in either minimising the risk of a formal HMRC compliance review, or the outcome of such a review if HMRC undertakes a routine audit, which they sometimes do periodically.

The compliance services we most commonly provide to employer clients include:

  • Preparation of forms P11D and P11D(b) to report taxable benefits in kind and expense payments for employees and directors covering a multitude of complex rules
  • Applying for a PAYE Settlement Agreement and preparing the annual calculations of grossed-up tax and Class 1B NIC payments
  • Monthly CIS returns for those clients required to operate CIS on payments to subcontractors, including employment status considerations which is a key element of the monthly return process
  • Form 42 and related returns in connection with employment-related securities and share-based awards made to employees
  • Employment Intermediary returns in relation to off-payroll workers
  • Off-payroll Worker Assessments and Status Determination Statements
