Our Trainee Chartered Accountant Programme - What our trainees think

Annabelle Wood, Chartered Accountancy Trainee

I joined Armstrong Watson two and a half years ago after completing an Accountancy and Finance degree. What initially attracted me to the firm was the ability to progress and gain experience in a wide range of departments across 14 offices and also feel part of a close team. I joined Armstrong Watson’s Chartered Programme in September 2015 and I am thoroughly enjoying every aspect of my job. 

The firm ensure I gain as much experience as possible, tailoring my practical work experience to what I am studying at college, building my knowledge and understanding. I currently work in business services with an involment in audits and tax work at Northallerton and Skipton. I attend training courses in accounting packages and professional development. My colleagues and tutors at college are very supportive, helping me successfully pass my ICAEW exams. Overall, fuelling my drive and ambition to move up the firm as I progress and gain more experience.

Whitney Savage, Chartered Accountancy Trainee

I joined Armstrong Watson in September 2011 as part of the Chartered Programme. I am in the final year of the programme and have recently finished my final ACA exam which will allow me to qualify as a Chartered Accountant. Throughout my studies I have received fantastic support from all colleagues involved in the study programme. I have had the opportunity to work in a number of the firm’s departments and offices, which has complimented my studies and given me a wide range of experience. I am currently working in the audit department and know that there will be endless opportunities to further my career within the firm. I value the ongoing support I will receive once finishing the Chartered Programme.
