Experienced business adviser joins Armstrong Watson’s growing Manchester office

Mark Sudworth

Armstrong Watson is delighted to announce the appointment of Mark Sudworth as Business Services Director in its expanding Manchester office - further strengthening the firm’s ambitions in Greater Manchester and marking the latest step in its continued growth.

Mark brings more than a decade of experience advising a wide range of family and owner-managed businesses, from various sectors across the North West, and in his new role, he will focus on expanding Armstrong Watson’s Business Services offering, strengthening relationships with businesses and helping the firm continue to build its presence and reputation in the region.

Having qualified at Fairhurst in 2013, where he worked in audit and accounts, Mark has since held roles at a handful of regional accountancy practices, focusing on the owner-managed SME market, which is his passion. A short period working in industry also gave him first-hand insight into the day-to-day financial challenges these businesses face and the hands-on, solution-driven advice they require.

Mark said: “I am excited to join Armstrong Watson’s Manchester team as a Business Services Director. Meeting the team, I got a feel for the passion they have for working at Armstrong Watson and delivering a high-quality service to the clients they support.

“The role offers a unique opportunity to drive growth in a dynamic, client-focused environment, and the firm’s aim to be recognised as the best accounting and financial advisory firm to deal with, delivering the best client experience, aligns perfectly with my passion for delivering value to clients.”

Mark’s arrival follows a period of significant investment and expansion in the Manchester area. In early 2022, Armstrong Watson established its Greater Manchester presence through the acquisition of ASE Professional Services and moved into a new office at Cheadle Royal Business Park, near Manchester Airport. Since then, the team has grown significantly, with the recruitment of additional staff, including Restructuring and Insolvency Partner Lindsey Cooper, and Tax Partners Tania Dimitrovich and Gary Rowson. The team has continued to bring in new work, and revenue has almost tripled over the last three years.

Mark added: “It’s an extremely exciting time ahead and I look forward to helping develop our presence in Greater Manchester and building strong, lasting relationships with clients.”

Richard Andrew, Head of Business Services, said: “We are delighted to welcome Mark to Armstrong Watson. His extensive experience working with SMEs, combined with his practical insight from time spent in industry, makes him an invaluable addition to our leadership team.

“Mark’s passion for building close client relationships and his commitment to delivering meaningful value will play a significant role in helping us continue to grow and support the region’s business community.”
